Had to deliver some young dogs. And while I was there, got the call to do some hog eradication for a Rancher. Loaded up my dogs, Bonnie, Dirty, Banjo, and my catchdog Gator. Along with my buddies dogs. And another two friends, with their 2 green catchdogs (it was their first time out, so I let them use my vests.)
It was one of those real muggy & hot nights! The Humidity was so thick, you could almost chomp on the air! LOL . We unloaded the 4 wheeler & my buddy went scouting for tracks along fencelines.
While we let the dogs out of the box. After about an hour we get a call on the radio that he's on a fresh track aprox 3.5 miles from us in the wood line (and let me tell you something we are damn lucky it was only 3.5 mi. away LOL that ol boy can cover some ground. the Hawaiians that hunt with him call him a jackrabbit LOL). well after walking through 2ft. high grass & a maze patch for the 3.5 mi.We finally reached the wood line, I thought it resembled more of a jungle, it was thick as hell with briar & oak.
there is no way you could maneuver quickly & keep a catchdog on a lead without getting seriously caught & cut up. So I cut Gator loose to range with other catchdogs & baydogs. I was so proud of him he did not trash on anything, just ranged & occasionally checked in like the cur dogs. After about another 3 mi.of trailing. them cur dogs struck a hot track & they were on it, & we were running, soon as we heard them cur dogs open up we heard grunting & curs yelping as we drew closer Gator came flying by, about knocked my bro inlaw off his feet, next thing you heard was that somebitch squeeling. We made it there a few seconds later & gator had that pork wagon stopped & the cur dogs were starting to jump in. So we dispatched what turned out to be pretty nice sow aprox 265 lbs. & we were eaten good.
Pictures posting soon... Damn shutterfly...lol
