What are some of the products you use for pest control for your dogs? (Flies, Ticks, Fleas, Worms)

Frontline is some damn good stuff, I use it on my to house dogs. just a little too much $$$ when we are talking about 15-20 bay dogs and 8- 10 catch dogs.
I treat the gorund around the kennel with something, sorry i don't know what it is. you need a licence to get it. my coon hunting buddy dad gives it to me. He is an exterminator. if anyone wants to know ask me and i will ask him I just MIx
then i use 7 dust 5% just get a pair of mommas old hose fill it up like a rosin bag and dust'em down. Now 7 dust is hard on a hounds nose so i go light and dont dust down their house like i do the catch dogs. But then will attach a cow tag to their collar. just fold in 1/2 rivit and thats it. i ve tried several brands you can decide what works for you.
when I worm the horses I just go down the kennel and give 1 ringer of what was left over. 1 time Ivomec the next Panacur<sp>

I get mine from my local feed store. I use two different, meds for worming. One for heart worms (Ivermectin 1% sterile solution for cattle & swine, I give orally once a month, I give less than 1/2 cc per 50 lbs) the other, is for round & hookworms, I use D-worm, once a month. Hope this helps............

thank you for the info. next question. I was recently told that you need to go to your vet first and have your animal checked for worms because if the do not have them or some form of worms and you start them on a certain medication it can hurt your animal or actually cause death. is their anything to this rumor. or do just start giving them the medicaton, just to be safe. i know my dogs have no worms @ this moment but when they start going up north and hunting, I know that if they eat certain types of animal droppings, that they are pretty much gaurented to get the worms. Thanks again for any information.

Yes, that is true. Have your dog checked for heartworms, before giving them Ivermectin, or it can cause death if they have heartworms already. You can give your dogs the D-worm, ect. for the round, & hook worms, as soon as you would like to, with no problems. ;D

You can go to the feed store and buy the green apple flavor safeguard for horses. Give your dogs 1 click per 20 pounds. (click is complete turn). I do that for three days in a row and then that safeguard cleans their whole system out. Gets everything except heartworms. You can also give your dog Ivomec even if it has heartworms, but it may kill the dog after the first dose. It depends on how bad he has them. If he survives the first dose, then keep him on it every month and eventually he will be heartworm free. The ivomec does not kill what he has, but keeps him from getting any more. Therefore eventually cleaning up his system. I use pyrantel (yellow inexpensive puppy wormer) from the vet every two months or so, plus ivomec every month then every 6th month I only use the ivomec and safeguard. This schedule works great for me. Brandee
