Went this afternoon and got back about 12:00. Well It was an all around good hunt. We didnt really come across anything for about 3 to 4 hours and just when we where turning back around heading back towards the trucks, one of the baydogs started winding towards the barbwire fences. All of us looked at each other and we where all thinking the same shit. " Damn it would really suck if we have to jump over the barbwire". None the less the second dog winded also and took off under the fence. We turned off the four wheelers and waited. Bout' 15 minutes later we heard the first bark. Then the second. It was on baby! i grabbed my dog Mala for she still needed practice going towards the bay. See we like our catch dogs to listen for the bay and no matter where we're at we can let them go and they'll go str8 towards it. I hesitated though cause it was some thick shit and had no idea what we where to expect on the other side. Finally I fought through all that shit with her on the leash and got close enough to release her. It was a nice little boar with nice cutters. Maybe about 90 to 100lbs. Mala ran in there and helped out with the catch. By the time I got there there where already 5 bay dogs on this little hog and they pretty much had it secured. The bay dogs wont hesitate when its something that small. Finally we get all the dogs off and begin to tie the hog up and "boom"! We here Cabeza a bulldog catahoula cross baying up another one. We where already breathing hard from fight to get to the dogs through all the thick shit we walked through.
Now this dog sounded like he was a good distance from where we where. Again we all looke at each other. We where off. It took us a good 10 minutes to get to the dogs. We came to a canal. Across it was what we where looking all night for. A nice size rank hog. This bigboy was about 250 easy. And cutters that would beam off our spotlight. He actually was standing at the drop of a bank keeping the baydogs at bay in the water. Everytime the dogs would try and come up this hog would charge them. I then release Mala. She swims all the way across. She comes out of the water and catches this bad boy right on the nose. He swings her to left to the right. My b###h never lets go. AT 40 pounds she has the heart of a lion. Once she grabbed on the other dogs come out of the water and help secure the catch. Now comes the bad part. We all had to swim across to the dogs. We all swore that if one of us has to swim we all swim.,,lol. Its always intense watching your dogs swim across or catch a hog in the water. I really wish I had filmed this but A camcorder tonight was out of the question. Oh well still makes another good bulldog memory.
